Where Instagram becomes Instakidney and Farmville is Organville. Facebook’s new sharing option – organs

Forgive the rather lame title but I felt I had to go out on a limb on this one. Facebook, the social media behemoth, is grabbing the corporate responsibility bull by the horns. They have announced plans to allow members (who are approaching a formidable one billion in strength) in the United States and the UK to “share” their organ donation preference. Ireland nor many other countries will not immediately have access, but it is likely this unexpected feature will spread like Timeline. Mark Zuckerberg and Co. believe this move will encourage members to [...]

Time Out on Facebook Timeline?

Time Out on Facebook Timeline?

How would you feel if your current partner was easily able to see images of you arm in arm with ex’s or a future employer was able to trawl back through your Facebook Timeline to see your university and pre-uni exploits? Dying to hear all about the big bust-up between [...]

Too much, much too soon?

Too much, much too soon?

I was browsing through Facebook recently, when I stumbled across the profile of Suzie, an old class-mate who dropped out at 17 to get married. It was probably a big shocker to everyone at the time, but I was too absorbed in planning my own wedding to Liam Gallagher to be bothered about someone else’s nuptials. Suzie and I had a brief friendship fling during my tweens. She was incredibly pretty. Not in an obvious way; she was petite with mousey blonde hair and had these amazing almond-shaped eyes. She [...]
