Sport transcended itself in 2011 for this small island country. It became more than a form of entertainment, it became hope, transubstantiated into Katie Taylor’s boxing glove, Richard Dunne’s boots, and Sean O’Brien’s hands as we watched him steamroll yet another unfortunate opponent. Barrack Obama came to Ireland at the end of May, and he told us something most of us needed to hear. “Is féidir linn”, or for non gaelgoirs, “Yes We Can”. Of course, Leinster already knew that. Munster win fourth consecutive Heineken Cup group game with victory over Scarlets
MUNSTER stood firm against a spirited Scarlets fightback to take the spoils in their fourth Heineken Cup pool game, and emerging with their fourth consecutive win in the competition. It took a second half try from Munster’s James Coughlan to bring Thomond Park in an otherwise relatively lacklustre game, with the Scarlets providing stiff opposition for the men in red. Ronan O’Gara was first on target for the Munster men, slotting over two penalties, with Stephen Jones replying with a well-taken penalty for the Scarlets. The Munster defence were kept [...]
Crouching Tiger… The Engaging Story of Matt Hampson

Christmas morning is hell. For those of you who feel this way, a bit of perspective please. Now this is not a piece dedicated to making you feel guilty about over-indulging on turkey this Christmas period while children starve in the third-world. We’ve all heard Do They Know It’s Christmas? This, rather, is a heads up on just how [...]

It can only be described in one word…UNREAL! Honestly, it was probably one of the most nerve-wracking games that I have ever witnessed in the flesh. The reaction in the ground was nothing short of amazing, I’ve never seen anything [...]
